Film at The Africa Center presents "Omen"

Join us at The Africa Center on Thursday, October 30th at 7:00PM ET for Film at The Africa Center screening of Omen. Written and directed by Belgian-Congolese director Baloji, After spending years in Belgium, Koffi, a young Congolese man, returns to his birthplace of Kinshasa to confront his family and homeland culture. Secrecy and sorcery erupt when a nosebleed is mistaken for a curse, and Koffi is shunned from his family. 

In partnership with the African Film Festival, Film at The Africa Center showcases a selection of films by emerging African filmmakers. These films reflect a range of genres, themes, and visual styles, allowing audiences to experience the vibrant tapestry of African cinema.

 

About the Director:

Baloji is a Belgian rapper, singer and film director of Congolese origin. Known as MC Balo in the hip hop group Starflam, he continued as a solo artist starting 2006. The name Baloji in Swahili translates to "man of science". His film Omen was selected as the Belgian entry for Best International Feature Film at the 96th Academy Awards.
